Achievements 2007-08

1. Agriculture / Agri Lands

An expenditure of Rs. 12.79 Lacs has been incurred under Agriculture Sector including Agri Lands against the approved outlay of Rs. 12.84 Lacs under capital component for carrying out improved agricultural activities and demonstrations in the field for creating awareness among the farming community about latest techniques / technology for getting higher production and productivity.

Under this sector, 45000 hectares area of paddy, 12325 hectares of maize, 71000 hectares area of wheat and 11150 hectares area under pulses have been covered under High Yielding Varieties Seeds for higher production during the year. 9121 hectares of area have been brought under cultivation of vegetables including potato seeds.

In order to boost production / productivity in the District, 10730.10 Tonnes of urea, 8233.60 Tonnes of DAP and 330.90 Tonnes of MOP have been used as per the recommended doses of chemical fertilizers in the District. Besides HYV seeds of 1598.41 Qtls. Paddy, 598.09 Qtls. Maize, 14582.15 Qtls. Wheat, 227.58 Qtls. Pulses and 107.43 Qtls. Oil Seeds have been distribution among the farmers during the year. Production of mushroom has been recorded to 3223.61 Qtls. during 2007-08.

2. Horticulture

Under Horticulture Sector, an amount of Rs. 06.25 Lacs (under Capital Component has been spent against the approved allocation of Rs. 06.95 Lacs during the year 2007-08. An area of 41 hectares has been covered under Compact Area Plantation against a target of 45 hectares and 1.73 hectare under strawberry besides 2012 plants of inferior varieties were top worked / grafted during this year and 2853 hectares of orchard area treated against various pests and diseases.

3. Soil Conservation/Forest/Social Forestry Sectors

The outlays and expenditure under the Soil Conservation, Forest and Social Forestry Sectors are given as under: -

Under Soil Conservation Sector, 7500 Rft. of plantation area has been fenced. 69000 plants have been raised in pits with poly bags. 5 Nos. of crates have been laid and 714 Cum DRSM structures have been reconstructed.

Under Forest Sector, 50800 Nos. pit plants, 42000 Nos Poly bags have been planted and fencing of 24,000 Rft. has been made during the year.

Under Social Forestry Sector, an area of 56.25 hectares under Village Wood Lot was covered; plantation of 38980 plants was done and 11400 lacs Nos plants have been raised in the Nursries.

4. Animal /Sheep Husbandry & Fisheries

An amount of Rs. 259.28 Lacs has been utilized under these sectors against Revised Outlay 2007-08 given against each sector as under:-

Under Animal Husbandry Sector, 3.01 Lac animals were treated against infectious diseases and castration done on 0.10 lac animals. 4.90 lac animals were dosed against a target of 4.00 lac animals. Artificial insemination was carried on 0.86 Lac animals and Birth recorded as 0.36 Lac and 56.26 Lac vaccinations were given to animals and poultry birds.

Under Sheep Husbandry Sector, 2.08 Lac sheep were dipped and 2.56 Lacs dosed against a target of 2.95 Lac and 5.25Lac respectively. Besides, mutton production was recorded at 7.85 Lac Kgs. against a target of 13.25 Lac Kgs. Similarly, wool production was recorded at 1.20 Lac Kg. against a target of 1.77 Lac Kgs. 1.56 Lac No. of sheep/Goat were vaccinated during the year.

Under Fisheries Sector, 5,16 Lac fish seed was distributed against a target of 5.00 Lacs and 78 ponds were stocked with fish seed.

5. Minor Irrigation

Under Minor Irrigation Sector, an amount of Rs. 182.44 Lacs has been spent during the year 2007-08 which is entirely a capital component. Expenditure includes Rs. 132.44 Lacs as loan assistance raised from the financial institutions and Rs. 50.00 Lacs as state share approved under the sector. The available resource under the sector is as under: -

6. Rural Development

SGSY/RURAL SANITATION (Now TSC)

These are centrally sponsored schemes implemented on cost sharing basis between central and state governments for alleviating poverty of rural masses by providing economic assets, infra-structural support, training, etc. besides providing civic amenities under Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC).

Under SGSY, 365 individuals/Swarozgaris were covered. Besides, 72 Self Help Groups have been formed. Also Rs. 43 lacs and Rs. 8.50 lacs as loan disbursed to the Individual Swarozgaries and Self Help Groups respectively during the year. Under Rural Sanitation, 63 Institutional Laterines in different schools have been constructed during the year.

Under NREGA (S.G.R.Y) Scheme, 0.84 Lac man days were generated for completing 14 works in rural areas like construction of lanes, drains, tractor roads, link roads, culverts, etc. 171 new houses were constructed under IAY/RHS and 36 houses upgraded under IAY during the year 2007-08.

8. Gujjar & Bakerwals Sector

During the year, an amount of Rs. 71.20 Lacs has been incurred against the approved allocation of Rs. 76.23 under Gujjar and Bakerwals Sector. Of which Rs. 30.04 Lacs have been spent under capital component for management of 250 inmates of G&B Hostels (Boys and Girls) by way of providing uniforms. Text books, Diets, etc.

09. Handicrafts / Handloom/DIC

An expenditure of Rs. 2.18 lacs has been incurred under Handicrafts Sector against the approved allocation of Rs. 2.20 lacs during the year 2007-08 entirely under Capital component. 9 training centres were run by the Department for providing training facilities in the crafts trades. 83 trainees were trained for advanced course.

Under Handloom Sector, an expenditure of Rs. 2.47 lacs has been incurred against the approved allocation of Rs. 2.50 lacs during the year 2007-08 under capital component.  Under the sector 00.09 MT Fabrics have been produced. Value of handloom products was recorded at Rs. 71.66 Lacs.

Under DIC Sector, an amount of Rs. 3.10 Lacs were spent against the approved of Rs. 3.10 Lacs. 42 beneficiaries have been provided interest subsidy during the year.

10. Sericulture

Under this sector, an expenditure of 3.63 lacs has been incurred against the approved allocation of Rs. 4.20 lacs under capital component during the year 2007-08. Under this sector, Cocoon production was registered up to 0.12 lacs Kgs. against the target of 0.13 lacs Kgs. Besides, 27.40 Kanals of land was brought under mulberry plantation.

11. Roads and Buildings (R & B) and N.F.B

An amount of Rs. 902.07 Lacs has been spent under this sector against the Revised Outlay 2007-08 of Rs. 902.07 Lacs which is entirely a capital component, which includes Rs. 650.00 Lacs as loan assistance raised from NABARD and Rs. 252.07 Lacs under State Share.

Under NFB, Rs. 50.00 Lacs has been spent for renovation of existing Government buildings in the District against the approved outlay of Rs. 50.00 Lacs.

12. Power

Under this Sector, an amount of Rs. 40.00 Lacs has been expended against the approved outlay of Rs. 40.00 lacs for repairing of 244 Nos distributed damaged transformers during the year 2007-08.

13. Education

An expenditure of Rs. 1364.32 Lacs has been incurred during 2007-08 against the revised outlay of Rs. 1394.35 Lacs. Of which Rs. 363.50 Lacs has been spent under capital component and Rs 1000.81 lacs has been spent under Revenue component.

Under this sector, 14 Nos. M.S have been upgraded to the level of H.S. besides upgradation of 10 HS to the level of HSS during the year. Under the sub-sector, supply of free textbooks has also been provided to 23866 students and Merit-cum-poverty scholarships provided to 2432 students besides mid day meals to 52132 students during the year 2007-08.

Under construction programme of education sector, 41 No. buildings have been provided with additional accommodation/repaired/renovated during 2007-08.

14. Youth Services & Sports

Against the approved outlay of Rs. 18.00 lakhs, an expenditure of Rs. 18.00 Lacs has been incurred entirely as capital component for development of 27 Nos play fields in different schools during the year.

15. Health

Under Health sector, Rs.114.08 Lacs have been spent during the year 2007-08 against the revised outlay of Rs. 114.08 Lacs. Under capital component for the construction of PHCs, Dispensaries, etc and purchase of Drugs etc.

Under Two Child Norms Scheme, Sterilization of 4926 Nos. , IUD insertions to 2827 Nos., OP Users to 500 Nos. and CC users to 577090 Nos. cases was done. Under Maternity and Child Health facilities, 44273 DPT beneficiaries, 44510 No. Polio beneficiaries have been achieved.

16. Public Health Engineering ( MNP ):

Under this sector, Rs. 483.00 Lacs has been spent during 2007-08 on the implementation of approved works programme that includes Rs. 344.00 Lacs as loan assistance and Rs. 139.00 lacs as State Share.

Under the District Plan of PHE (MNP) sector, 10 habitations were covered under rural water supply schemes and 14684 souls have been provided with potable drinking water facilities during the year.

17. Urban Development

Under Urban Development Sector, Rs. 47.53 Lacs stand spent against the approved outlay of Rs. 47.53 lacs for providing urban infrastructure in the MCs and 62 Nos works were completed during the year 2007-08.

18. Social Welfare/SC & OBC

Under Social Welfare Sector, an amount of Rs. 17.59 Lacs was spent during the year 2007-08 against the revised outlay of Rs. 17.59 lacs. Under this sector 20 Nos. rural women camps were organized, scholarships to 155 physical handicapped students provided and 50 No. Social Welfare Centres were opened during the year. Under SC/OBC Sector, an amount of Rs. 81.38 Lacs was spent against the revised outlay of Rs. 81.50 lacs.

Under Welfare of SC, 25588 students were provided pre-metric scholarships, 909 students provided reimbursement of examination Fee, and under Welfare of OBC, pre-metric scholarship provided to 4303 students, reimbursement of exam. Fee to 294 students, education up-liftment to 103 sweepers children.

19. NUTRITION

Under this sector, Rs. 194.04 Lacs has been spent during the year 2007-08 against the revised outlay of Rs. 195.05 lacs which is entirely a capital component.Under this sector, nutrition was provided to 4233 pregnant women, 6479 nursing mothers, 27873 children under the age bracket of 6 months to 3 years and 16464 children in the age group of 3 years to 6 years years. Besides nutrition was also provided to 9787 adolescent girls.

20. Labour Welfare

Under this sector, an amount of Rs. 6.88 lacs has been spent against the revised outlay of Rs. 7.54 lacs which is entirely a revenue component.

21. Self Employment

Under this sector, an amount of Rs. 93.24 Lacs was spent against the revised outlay of Rs. 95.20 Lacs. Of which Rs. 85.00 Lacs has been spent under capital component for providing incentives to the educated unemployed youths for starting their own ventures under Self Employment Program. The banks had sanctioned 238 cases against 586 cases sponsored during the year, besides Rs. 52.50 lacs as interest subsidy and Rs. 30.64 lacs as Marginal money have been provided to the beneficiaries during the year 2007-08
